T-Ball Softball
(ages 4-6) is a non-competitive, instructional program for 5-6 year olds to
learn the basic fundamentals of softball. All batters will hit the ball
from a batting tee in the early part of the season. As the coaches see
progress they will begin to introduce the girls to pitched balls. Coaches
are stationed beyond the infielders to provide instruction to the
defensive players. Players will rotate through the different infield and
outfield positions to learn all aspects of fielding. The ability to make
a defensive play is emphasized over the ability to score runs. All
players are in the field every inning, scores are not kept and there are no
strikeouts. A soft safety ball is used for all games and practices.
The goals of this program are to generate interest in
the softball program and provide instruction in the basic fundamentals of
softball. A safe and supportive atmosphere with lots of parental
involvement is highly encouraged.
Manager
Pitch Softball (otherwise known as 8 and Under) is instructional yet still
gives the girls a bit of a competitive experience. The emphasis is on improving
basic softball skills. While batting, a coach will deliver pitches. The girls
will be encouraged to swing at good pitches and put the ball in play. While
fielding, the girls will rotate positions and be encouraged to make the proper
throws, catches and/or tags. A standard 11"
softball is introduced at this level.
Tournament teams are developed at this level to allow for advanced play through the month of July.
The Brad-Mar-Pine
Fast Pitch program is structured to assist in the development of
players who wish to prepare themselves for future fast pitch school
softball teams or wish to play at a higher level of softball.
Our 10 & under Minors Fast Pitch program provides
an introduction to the fast pitch game for girls in a competitive yet
instructional environment. Basic skill development and an understanding of the
game are emphasized at this level. The girls will start to develop fast pitch
specific pitching, hitting and base running skills using an 11"
softball. After four balls the coach pitches to the batter. Girls
will play and learn multiple positions.
Brad-Mar-Pine Athletic Association is a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Girls
Softball League for all fast pitch ages. The GPGSL provides league competition
with associations throughout the western Pennsylvania area.
A Brad-Mar-Pine tournament team will be formed and try-outs will be held.
The tournament team will play in various tournaments in the Pittsburgh region
from May through July.
12U Girls Fast Pitch Softball
T-Ball (Ages 3 - 5) League has been developed to teach the fundamentals of the game of baseball and to get the players to start learning the basics such as fielding, throwing, hitting and baserunning. A safety ball is used in this league in order to allow our young athlete’s to learn the game of baseball in a safe environment. Practice sessions typically begin the first week of April with two scheduled practices each week. Games typically start in early May with two games scheduled each week. Baserunning is typically from base to base in this league. The hitters will hit off the Tee initially and will move to coach pitching in early June.
3-4 year old Tball plays on Saturdays starting in mid April and ending in Mid June. League has been developed to teach the fundamentals of the game of baseball and to get the players to start learning the basics such as fielding, throwing, hitting and baserunning. This program is recommended for first time players ages 3 and 4. This program is designed as a 7-8 week clinic that will introduce the basic concepts of baseball in a manner that will keep the young athletes, engaged, moving and having fun while learning a game they will enjoy for years to come. Area of focus will include fielding, throwing, hitting (using a Tee) and base running. A safety ball will be used in this league to allow the young athlete’s to learn the game of baseball in a safe environment.
This program will be scheduled for one hour each Saturday beginning in the end of April and running through early June. Each session will end with a one inning game where each player gets a chance to hit off of the tee and run the bases. For parents interested in volunteering their services as coaches, BMP will provide a coaches clinic, introductory meeting and practice plans for all volunteer coaches. Ongoing support will also be available through our League Director and Director of Player Development. Coaching is a fun and rewarding experience.
BMP will provide all players with a hat and jersey. Each player should have a Glove, Athletic Shoes (Baseball Shoes are recommended), a Bat with a USA Bat Stamp. Players may want to get their own helmet but team helmets will be available.
Shetland Transition League Objective: The goal and primary focus of this league is to
continue teaching and developing ALL players for a successful transition into Pinto (coach
pitch). Just like Shetland tee ball, it is not meant to be competitive in the form of wins/losses,
playoffs, and championships. However, it will introduce some of the competitive aspects of
Pinto such as hitting pitches, outs, runner advancement, and defensive positioning.
Pinto baseball is largely an instructional league geared toward the continued fostering of interest in the sport. Players will continue to be taught the fundamentals of baseball that they began to learn in Shetland. The catcher position is introduced and the rover position is removed. The game is played with four outfielders. Managers will pitch to the players the entire season and games are extended to 6 innings. As in Shetland, coaches are positioned in the field to provide instruction to fielders. Safety and enjoyment will be reinforced throughout the season and there is a continued emphasis on creating equal fielding and batting opportunities.
Mustang baseball (ages 9-10) will be the first league for our young ballplayers to experience the full game of baseball. The players will pitch and all baseball rules apply with the exception of taking lead-offs on the base path. Our philosophy for Mustang baseball will focus on teaching our players the skills and concepts needed to execute the game as a Team. Sportsmanship and Teamwork are fundamental building blocks for all good ballplayers. Players will be exposed to all of the defensive positions and will be given a chance to pitch in game situations. Because of the leap from manager-pitch to player-pitch, the pace of play is a little faster and game intensity rises. We will utilize the American and National league formats where the intensity of play will be different. Both leagues will play approximately 15 regular season games with a season ending play-off and championship game. Both American League and National League teams may play games against other associations in addition to our in-house games.
Bronco baseball expands upon the many baseball fundamentals introduced and learned in Mustang baseball. The Bronco division introduces players to a longer pitching distance, pitching from the stretch, greater distance between bases, lead-offs, pick-offs and several other nuances that will make the game fun and enjoyable. Because of the many subtle changes in the game between Mustang and Bronco, the pace of play quickens. We may utilize American and National league formats where the intensity of play will be the primary difference. Both leagues will play approximately 15 regular season games. Both American League and National League teams may play games against other associations in addition to pure in-house games.
Pony baseball is the transition league that takes players from the "kid" leagues to "young adult" status. It permits a player to play on a diamond tailored to his size and capability rather than being moved to one with twice the playing area in a single year. Pony baseball is specifically designed for the player in those very formative early-teen years.
The vast majority of players of league age 13 aren't ready to play on a full-size diamond (MLB field). At the same time, they have outgrown the dimensions of the "kid’s baseball" diamonds used in Bronco baseball and other "12-and-under" programs.
Pony baseball was founded for this very apparent reason. After becoming skillful players in the younger leagues, players in their early teens found themselves unable to compete, to play the game of baseball as it was intended to be played, on the regulation size diamond.
With bases set 80 feet apart and pitchers throwing from 54 feet, Pony leaguers play one of the most fascinating games in all of youth baseball. Well beyond the beginner’s stage, they have mastered all but the finest points of technique and strategy and can play the game with a skill comparable to that of older players, if you let them play it on a field specifically designed to match their physical limitations.
Colt baseball enables the high school player to
fine tune their skills before advancing into open competition.
Colt leagues introduce the players to the regulation Baseball diamonds and
pitching distances. Colt Baseball players are subject to pitching
limitations designed to protect their arms.
Colt baseball is limited to 16 and under (minimum age 13 in
Baseball), but players of age 15 through 18 are eligible for Palomino
league baseball tournament play if no Colt league is available.
Baseball Leagues which combine players 15-18 in a single local league may enter
teams in both Colt and Palomino tournament play.
Colt league baseball is an exciting, top notch sport that provides a
fitting showcase for the talent developed in your community.
Palomino league baseball enable the high school and beginning college player to fine tune their skills before advancing into open competition. Palomino league baseball is for players 18 and under (minimum age 15).
Where a sufficient number of Baseball players are available, division of the talent into COLT 16U™ LEAGUES, for players 16 and under (minimum age 13) and 18 and under (minimum age 15) for 18 and under (minimum age 15) provides for more individualized instruction and increases actual playing opportunity for the younger age players.
Designed for the aspiring amateur to hone and display his skills, Palomino league baseball enables these young adults to pit their skills against players from other areas and to display their talents for review by collegiate recruiters and professional scouts.
